What is Craft Locking on VeVe?
VeVe recently introduced a new crafting lock feature to help support fair participation in Craft events and protect the integrity of limited crafting releases.
When a digital collectible is used as an ingredient in an eligible Craft, that edition may be temporarily locked, meaning it cannot be transferred or listed for sale in the Market until the lock period ends.
Collectors will be able to view the lock status and unlock date directly on the affected collectible.
Supporting Fair Access to Craft Events
Crafting gives collectors the chance to combine specific collectibles to create new digital collectibles and rewards.
As Craft events have evolved, we’ve seen cases where the same crafting ingredients could be transferred and reused multiple times within a short period. This can affect the experience for other collectors, especially during limited Craft events where access depends on specific required items.
The crafting lock feature is designed to help address this by temporarily restricting the transfer and sale of collectibles used in eligible Crafts. This helps keep crafting ingredients associated with the collector who used them for a defined period before they return to normal marketplace activity.
How It Works
If a collectible is subject to a crafting lock, a notification will appear on the collectible showing:
- the reason for the lock
- the date and time the lock expires
- the collectible’s current marketplace status
Lock durations may vary depending on the requirements of each Craft event.
Once the lock period ends, the collectible will return to normal transfer and marketplace activity.
Looking Ahead
This update is part of VeVe’s ongoing efforts to improve the collecting experience, support fair participation in Craft events, and preserve the long-term integrity of the platform’s crafting ecosystem.
Collectors can expect the crafting lock feature to be applied to eligible Craft events moving forward, with lock details shown directly on any affected collectible.
