Brian Stelfreeze - Captain America: Red White and Blue #1

“It was quite an honor to get the chance to illustrate a cover for such a great Captain America project. For this special issue, I drew inspiration from one of my favorite classic illustrators, James Montgomery Flagg. He’s most known for the iconic Uncle Sam “I Want You” World War I recruitment poster. I had learned earlier that Flagg only used red, white and blue pigments in the creation of his Uncle Sam and I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to use his technique. As a military brat, I also thought It would be cool to throw a nod to some of the other branches. I had a great time working on this painting and it will always be a career marker for me.” - Brian Stelfreeze
