The Phoenix Force is one of the most powerful entities in Marvel history, and now an explosive chapter is coming to VeVe.

This upcoming March, VeVe will launch the Phoenix Five Collectible Saga, a year-long digital collectible pipeline inspired by the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline. The series begins with Jean Grey and the Phoenix Five Diorama, introducing collectors to an evolving display set piece designed to build across multiple character releases.

This is a structured narrative release. Not a one-off drop, and it starts with fire.

Jean Grey and the Phoenix Diorama Begin the Story

In Marvel lore, the Phoenix Force has bonded with many hosts. Jean Grey remains the earliest and most well known. Her connection to the cosmic entity defines eras of X-Men storytelling.

That legacy anchors the first release.

Jean Grey arrives in three animated digital collectible colorways, launching alongside the base Phoenix Five Diorama. While they are separate products, their design is intentionally connected.

The Jean Grey Phoenix Variant activates VeVe’s snap-to-location feature. Snap-to-location is a feature that allows two or more digital collectibles to be combined into a larger scene, for display both in showroom and augmented reality. When the Phoenix Five Jean Grey variant is snapped into the Phoenix Five diorama, the transformation begins. The volcanic base ignites.

Collectors aren’t just placing a digital statue. They are triggering a starting moment in the collecting pipeline. Dan Crothers, COO and Co-Founder of VeVe explains, “Snap-to-location is a feature that allows us modular collecting and storytelling, and it’s a feature that’s unique to digital collecting. Being able to proximity snap collectibles together to add animations, features, and posing options is just the beginning.”

As such, the Jean Grey drop also establishes the storytelling foundation for the full product line. Select comic releases will align with the collectible drops, pairing each costume variant with historically relevant Marvel issues whenever possible. The goal is cohesion between digital sculpture and comic canon.

“When we designed the models for the Phoenix Five release, costuming and posing were some of the earliest decisions we made,” explains Devin Hart, Creative Director at VeVe. “We typically use comic references to inform our designs, so being able to release the comics that inspired the costuming and poses should really allow people to appreciate these collectibles.”

The Phoenix Five Saga and the Full Collector Pathway

In Avengers vs. X-Men, Iron Man fractured the Phoenix Force using a specialized weapon. The cosmic power split into five hosts: Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus, and Magik. Together, they became the Phoenix Five.

That transformation arc now unfolds across VeVe from March through late summer. Each character release includes three variants.

  1. The Phoenix Variant, which will snap into the Phoenix Five diorama to enhance the display release by release.
  2. An iconic costume design, featuring the character in a costume that is either legacy or well known.
  3. A rarer costume design with reduced editions, to ensure the set has true collectibility.

Corey Truax, VeVe Head of Brand explains, “It was essential we had consistency across releases, and that core features like the snap-to-location were obtainable for average collectors. That said, we also want to ensure we’re representing the IPs with iconic costumes, low editions, and enjoyable mechanics. This drops hits all the key points, and the comics elevate the experience even more.”

Throughout the saga, comic releases are timed alongside the collectibles to reinforce costume references and narrative alignment. This approach supports both longtime Marvel readers and collectors discovering the storyline through VeVe.

The Phoenix Five Saga is designed as a long-form experience.

It introduces the narrative through Jean Grey and the base diorama. It builds momentum with each character release. It rewards completion with a fully realized digital set piece that cannot exist without participation across the entire line.

This is digital collecting expressed through transformation, progression, and story cohesion.

“At VeVe, we’ve spent the last five years working to legitimize and elevate the digital collecting experience,” explains David Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of VeVe. “Snap-to-location. Modular displays and collectible storytelling. AR display. AR interactivity. And the list goes on. What we are doing is next level. But, believe it or not, this is still just the beginning. This future of collecting burns bright on VeVe.”
