This work depicts Pocahontas, a member of the Pamunkey tribe and one of the most famous women in early American history. She is often discredited for helping the English settlers in Virginia in the early 1600s but in reality, she was a clever and brave young woman, who served as a translator, ambassador and leader in her own right in the face of European power.
