Harriet Tubman

This work depicts Harriet Tubman, the American abolitionist and political activist. She escaped from slavery and on some 13 missions rescued at least 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Considered the first African American woman to serve in the military, she was a scout, spy, guerrilla soldier, and nurse for the Union Army during the Civil War.
